This is one of the most annoying habit a person can have. I get that sometime you just need to talk about your problems, everybody does. But there’s a big difference between talk about what’s happening to you and complaining about everything. And here are the consequences and reasons to stop it.
1. Doesn’t Take You Anywhere
I’ve seen people complaining again and again, to every person that comes close enough to ear them. They complain about money, illness, life, love, everything. Most of the things you complain about, you can actually change. But if you are wasting time complaining, you’re not doing something to change it. So, stop complaining and take action. You always have a choice. Do something and change the things in your life, that make you unhappy.
2. People Get Tired of Listening to YouIf you are always talking about the same thing, people get tired.
I mean, it’s okay to talk about your problems but not every time you see your friends. (Please, if you’re complaining let it be with people you’re close to. Not to a person you barely know). I can listen to my friends telling me the same stories two or three times, but after that, I’m thinking: “No, that story again!” I bet you think that too when your friends complain several times about the same thing. See my point?
3. People Starts Pitying YouWorse than people getting tired of you, is when they give you a pity look.
You complain, and complain, and complain, and people listen to you, but honestly, what can they do for you? Most of the time, you’re the only one that can change what’s wrong in your life. That’s when you can get that look. The pity look. And then you’re probably mad at them for that look. But, it’s actually it’s all your fault. Stop complaining and take action, and you’ll never see that look again. Probably.
4. Makes You Feel WorseThink a little bit about that moment after you’ve complained. You feel light.
But then what? You start thinking about what you’ve said and feel worse. Maybe you talk with someone you shouldn’t, or you’ve said too much. Or the person you’ve talked has a clear opinion about your problems, and tells you something that you don’t wanna ear. One way or another, you always end up feeling worse.
5. You Forget the Bright Side of LifeComplain after complain, you start feeling like your life is what it is and you can’t change what’s wrong.
Then, you start expecting bad things to happen to you. When you do this, you’ll lose your ability to fins happiness in the small things. You won’t appreciate that amazing dinner with your family because you’ll be expecting the next argument. Without realize, you’ve lost your positivity. You’re so immersed in what’s bad, that that’s the only thing you can see.
What about you? Do you complain a lot? What has it cost you? I’d love to know about your thoughts about this in the comments section bellow.
